Never forget....

September 11, 2011...was probably the biggest event in many of our lifetimes.  It's like a song.  You can sometimes remember where or who you were with the first time you heard it.  I remember getting myself and my kids ready for our day that day.  Watching the television in utter shock.  I'll never forget that day.  I'll never forget that year actually.  Eight days after September 11th, my Dad passed away.  You never forget the feeling of losing a parent.  Two weeks later on October 1st, I moved to an apartment that as a single Mom I could finally afford.  It was a very crazy year!

Life is full of big events.  Births, weddings, graduations, first homes to name just a few.  Big days that should be remembered in style with a stylish and special card.  A Heartifacts Card.  Look at your calendar and give me a call today so we can mark that special day in style! 805/296-8671.

Back to work.....

I was cleared by my doctor to go back to work.  So I will be back at the office on July 18th.   It's kind of bittersweet.  It's sort of like the end of one journey and the beginning of another.  Is there a card for that?  I could make one.  This is a a Boss's Day Heartifacts card I made many years ago.  I guess my occasion would be "Congrats for getting better!" or "Welcome Back!".   Whatever it is, it will be nice to be making a regular paycheck and be part of the "normal" world.  So Happy Going Back to Work to me!!!  I'll still have plenty of time to make cards though.  So if you are feeling you want to give someone a greeting card that is more like a gift than a card, call me!!! One in a million.....

Have you ever thought about how many blogs there are on the internet? Millions? Billions?  People with a lot to say or they just have pictures of their children they want to post.  Who looks at all these blogs?  I wonder as I write who looks at my blog.  Who looks at my facebook page?

Missing you, Dad....

This is a card from Father's Day 2008.  I love the old black and white photos.  I sure miss my Dad as the older we both got the closer we became.  Next year would be a great year for you to give your Dad a Heartifacts Father's Day card with him on the cover.  If he's not around any more, there are always brothers or husbands to remember that day.  Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!

Special Relationship....

My daughter turns 17 today.  Lots of memories from that day....it was very, very hot that day.  Triple digit temperatures.  Plus O.J. Simpson was running from the law so there was something to watch on the TV while I waited for Leah's arrival.  Little did I know that this child would have such an impact on my life.  I get to be the Mother that I never had.  There is always time for second chances in life.  Happy Birthday sweet daughter....you are truly a gift to me.

I haven't seen my brother in many years....not sure how long it's been.  I am glad that my daughter gets to see her big brothers pretty regularly.  I hope she is always that lucky.  My brother's pictures make excellent cards.  Do you have someone who has a birthday coming up?  There's still a little over a week until Father's Day.  Send a Heartifacts Card with your Dad's picture on it!  It is a card that is a gift!

It's a throw away culture....

Over the years how many cards have you gotten that have ended up in the trash?  Nothing is more satisfying when I give someone a card and they say "I gonna keep this one!"  That is what the young lady who rents a room from me said when I gave her this birthday card the other day.  A Heartifact card is more than a card....it's more like a gift.  Do you have anybody with a birthday coming up? Sleepless nights....

I've now been bedridden (why does that term sound like I am not lying in bed?) for three weeks.  Inactivity is now causing me to have insomnia.  Time to start thinking of ways to utilize those wee hours of the morning.  In the meantime how about a Mother's Day card featuring your Mom? Challenging myself....

So I have been in bed since Saturday with my back problem.  It's get's kind of old after a while watching tv.  In the meantime life goes on.  My son had a birthday and I thought about just calling, but I always make him a card, so I had to think of something that was meaningful to both of us.  One of our big things to do when he was little and learning to spell was play hangman in the sand at the beach.

My daughter drove me to the doctor yesterday to get a injection in my back and then she left for six days to attend the Future Farmers State convention in Fresno.  She has been really busy and has not had much time to practice her speech for competion.  So needless to say she was a little bit on edge before she left. While she was at school I whipped out a card to let her know she was the best daughter to me no matter what happens this weekend.

I haven't done any hand drawn cards in quiet some time.  It's a challenge because I haven't had alot of free time to draw with purchasing a house this summer.  The whole process of just coming up with the idea, then the priliminary sketching and then the final drawing is a process that I had forgotten how much I enjoyed.

I am hoping to be back to work next week and to sit in my studio and make cards.  Do you have any birthday's coming up?  Any babies on the way?  Mother's and Father's days are just around the corner.  Why not send a Heartifact card with your recipient on the cover.  Guaranteed smiles!!!

Happy Birhday #1 Son.....

One of the inspirations in my life turns 23 today.  He's handsome, smart and charming. He's currently going to college and sells Cutco.  He has a very expressive face which makes a great card.  Unfortunately my back is not feeling all that great this week so I actually did a hand drawn card.  It's good to break away from the usual and do something different. What makes you smile?

A friend on Facebook is tearing her hair out over a paper.  People are worried about the price of gas.  The situation in Japan, just gets more dramatic.  Oh and by the way, we dropped some bombs on Libya today.  On days like today, I'd like to be a dog with it's head hanging out the window of a car just being happy being a dog.  I love to see dogs in cars and trucks.  It makes me smile.  What makes you smile?  Would it transfer into something that would make a good card?  Make someone smile with a Heartifacts Card.  After all, life isn't perfect, but there are the little things worth smiling about.....

Feelin' lucky....

Went to a pain specialist today and hopefully I will be ending the month just a little more pain free.  That will certainly make my life a whole lot rosier.  Plus I think I've got a really good tenant for my rental.  I'm feelin' a little luckier than I did a couple of days ago.  Oh I should have bought a lottery ticket!!!  Well the next time you need a card, remember the best, a Heartifacts Card.  It won't break the bank and it will be the most impressive card you will ever give.  While we're waiting for the next holiday or birthday....here's a St. Patty's Day card with my little Leprechan son on it!!!

I'm a starving artist, Mom, new homeowner and I haven't had a raise in 4 years!  So I have three jobs....my full-time job, a once a week office cleaning job and a caretaker job.  Well, the caretaker job has aggravated an old back injury.  Well, more than aggravated, I am in so much discomfort I'm taking vicodin until I can see a spine and pain specialist.  Did I say starving?  At least I can still sit.  So you haven't heard from me because well when I am in pain, I'm not very good company.  But today, after two nights of 12 hours of sleep, I feel like posting some get well cards.  So brighten someone's day with a Heartifacts Card featuring their face feeling better..or not....  Or make me smile...place an order!

School holiday....

It's not a holiday for those of us who work in the private sector...i.e. construction.   That's okay.  Like a lot of people have been saying, they are just thankful to have a job.  So if you are ever in a jam and can't afford to buy a gift, but want to give someone a fantastic card, that is as close to a gift as you can get....think Heartifacts Cards!!!!!

My Heartifacts Card company ad which is going in a local restaurant's menu is almost done.  I've spent over three years making most of my cards for free, so I am gearing up for just a little more exposure.  Still dreaming big!  Have a great day!

There's lots of to do about today.  Lots of scrambling, head scratching etc.  I could have made it so awesome and so easy for you had you gotten a Heartifacts Card.  That's okay, there are birthdays coming up and you've got 365 days to find that perfect picture to put on your card for next year.  Featuring your sweetheart on a card will be priceless and it won't cost you all that much!  Happy VD everyone!

Valentines Day isn't just for lovers....

I've finished my personal valentines.   I've always given valentines to my kids and the significant other of the moment.  I have a special cousin that I made a card for this year.  Maybe give someone a valentine or even a chocolate kiss to someone that least expects it.  Or next year, think of sending a Heartifacts Card with your valentine's face right on the cover!!!

Why I make cards....

Being creative has a rush all of it's own, but the first time I put a friend's head on someone else's body in order to have a comedic effect....it was magical.
