Living life.....

I'm feeling almost...well, normal.  I've been doing more and more and more things and taking a few chances.  This weekend I got a second chance with someone that I treated poorly while I wasn't feeling well.  A few hours of putting the past aside.   I feel truly blessed by the gift of a couple of hours that I got.  Think of the people in your life that are gifts.  Their face would be awesome on a Heartifacts Card.  Share the love....I love you!!!

Never forget....

September 11, 2011...was probably the biggest event in many of our lifetimes.  It's like a song.  You can sometimes remember where or who you were with the first time you heard it.  I remember getting myself and my kids ready for our day that day.  Watching the television in utter shock.  I'll never forget that day.  I'll never forget that year actually.  Eight days after September 11th, my Dad passed away.  You never forget the feeling of losing a parent.  Two weeks later on October 1st, I moved to an apartment that as a single Mom I could finally afford.  It was a very crazy year!

Feel deeply....

In two days, my daughter starts her Senior year in High School.   She was showing me the proofs for her Senior pictures today and I felt a pang of sadness.  My daughter is a beautiful, talented and bright young lady.  Being a Mother has been an incredible journey for me.  As I think back over my daughter's last 17 years, there are so many wonderful memories.  Many of which I have documented in cards.

Take nothing for granted.....

I have a new enthusiasm for life these days.  I've been back at work for two weeks now.  Along with having a year and a half relationship ending, I am using my feelings of loss to move me forward to expand who I am.  Life experiences always make an artist feel more and therefore more capable of expressing it in their medium of choice.  I will try not to take anything or anyone for granted any more.  Today, I have to look life in the face and kind of laugh.  Silly me....I messed up but I am going to hop back on that vehicle called life and excellerate gently and move forward.  I can't take myself too seriously.

Change...

Back to work.....

I was cleared by my doctor to go back to work.  So I will be back at the office on July 18th.   It's kind of bittersweet.  It's sort of like the end of one journey and the beginning of another.  Is there a card for that?  I could make one.  This is a a Boss's Day Heartifacts card I made many years ago.  I guess my occasion would be "Congrats for getting better!" or "Welcome Back!".   Whatever it is, it will be nice to be making a regular paycheck and be part of the "normal" world.  So Happy Going Back to Work to me!!!  I'll still have plenty of time to make cards though.  So if you are feeling you want to give someone a greeting card that is more like a gift than a card, call me!!! Independance....

I can't believe I've never done a 4th of July card.  Well that's something maybe for next year!  Mostly today is a day of having fun with friends and family celebrating being able to do go and do whatever is legal. I'm thinking about being free from pain so maybe I can go have fun next year.  I bet my daughter is thinking about being 17 going on 18 and all the independance that will bring.  What does independance mean to you?  Do you need a special card saying how good it is to just be you? Sleepless nights....

I've now been bedridden (why does that term sound like I am not lying in bed?) for three weeks.  Inactivity is now causing me to have insomnia.  Time to start thinking of ways to utilize those wee hours of the morning.  In the meantime how about a Mother's Day card featuring your Mom? What makes you smile?

A friend on Facebook is tearing her hair out over a paper.  People are worried about the price of gas.  The situation in Japan, just gets more dramatic.  Oh and by the way, we dropped some bombs on Libya today.  On days like today, I'd like to be a dog with it's head hanging out the window of a car just being happy being a dog.  I love to see dogs in cars and trucks.  It makes me smile.  What makes you smile?  Would it transfer into something that would make a good card?  Make someone smile with a Heartifacts Card.  After all, life isn't perfect, but there are the little things worth smiling about.....

I'm a starving artist, Mom, new homeowner and I haven't had a raise in 4 years!  So I have three jobs....my full-time job, a once a week office cleaning job and a caretaker job.  Well, the caretaker job has aggravated an old back injury.  Well, more than aggravated, I am in so much discomfort I'm taking vicodin until I can see a spine and pain specialist.  Did I say starving?  At least I can still sit.  So you haven't heard from me because well when I am in pain, I'm not very good company.  But today, after two nights of 12 hours of sleep, I feel like posting some get well cards.  So brighten someone's day with a Heartifacts Card featuring their face feeling better..or not....  Or make me smile...place an order!

Being patient....

My Heartifacts Card company ad which is going in a local restaurant's menu is almost done.  I've spent over three years making most of my cards for free, so I am gearing up for just a little more exposure.  Still dreaming big!  Have a great day!

It's more than just a card....

It's a card that features the person that the card is intended for so it's more than just a card.  The majority of my Heartifacts cards feature the people who the card was given to.   It's an interesting concept and I tell you it will be a hit if you try it!  Happy Birthday Everyone!!!!

I am a Birthday Scrooge of sorts....

This year, like many years in the past, I take my birthday day off.  It makes me feel very uncomfortable for people to tell me "Happy Birthday!"  Frankly, as I approach my 5*th birthday, I'd rather be 45.  I should be happy I am alive etc. and feel blessed for having all that I have.  I am, I just don't want to be told I need to be a certain way on "my day".   So with that, I do love it when other people have birthdays.  I like to celebrate their specialness.  In celebration of my birthday this week, I'll be featuring other people's birthdays, cuz without them, I would have no reason to be creative!!  Happy Birthday! Everyone else!

Where do I begin.....

This is the next step in sharing my quirky gift with the....should I say world?  I've been making cards since I was a young girl.  I should dig them up and take some pictures of them and give myself and good laugh.  I'd like to make some money doing what I like to do....creatively enhancing people using their pictures and glue, paper and a few embellishments.  Life is my muse....
